Welcome to the Woman's Club of Hollywood
The Heart of Hollywood since 1905
Founded in 1905, The Woman’s Club of Hollywood is a 501c3 non-profit philanthropic, charitable, civic and social organization. With its’ roots deep in Hollywood history, the Club property is the site of the former Hollywood School for Girls- where Jean Harlow, Douglas Fairbanks Jr., the daughters of Cecil B. DeMille, David Selznick and many other Golden Era legends attended. Oscar winning costume designer Edith Head was a teacher. Actor Charles Laughton taught Shakespeare.
Since 1905, the Woman’s Club members have worked together to serve and enhance the Hollywood community. A tradition that is carried on today. Our celebrated members and attendees have included Charlie Chaplin, Mary Pickford, Gloria Swanson, Gary Cooper, Lucille Ball, Tippi Hedren, Melanie Griffith, Doris Roberts, Steve Allen & Jayne Meadows, and many more.
Some women’s clubs have had an image of simply wealthy ‘ladies who lunch.’ But the Hollywood Club is different, because our members are working women, some with time and budget constraints, who really want to make a difference in the local community. Many work in various areas of the entertainment industry and use their expertise to help the club survive and thrive. The Club is run by volunteers – so we need and welcome your input and participation.
After a four-year closure, the Club was re-opened for its members in September 2014.
WCH members will once again host their famous monthly luncheons, fundraising events and evening lectures. We have free Coffee Mornings where ideas can be shared, networking done and an opportunity to work on some of our charitable needs – like creating care packages for homeless veterans – or even just a fun game of cards. Members decide. Our charitable focuses include children in need and care for our returning veterans.
With the younger members joining the Club, we are introducing some new ideas as we move forward. A variety of classes will be offered, including Memoir Writing, Mystery Writing, Pilates, Hollywood History, Financial and Estate Planning, Computer and Photography Classes and those dealing with Health Matters.
To pay our overheads, we rent our facility and parking lot for film and television shoots, for conferences, lectures, celebratory and business luncheons and other events.
This is just a sample of the many things that will be going on at the new Woman’s Club of Hollywood. So please join us at one of our events, or contact us to find out other opportunities for you to participate in the fun – and be part of Hollywood History.
It's for all these reasons the Woman's Club of Hollywood is now on the National Register of Historic Places and a Historic Cultural Monument. You can read more about the incredible History of the Club on our site.
Join us to celebrate the rich history of the Club and ensure its continued legacy in Hollywood. If you'd like to become a Member, please visit our Membership page on the site. Welcome to the Club!
